    A monochromator separates incoming light into its component wavelengths, selecting only a very narrow bandwidth of interest to output. Spectrograph separates incoming light into its component wavelengths for recording and analysis.

    Filter Option

    In the 9072DS, the grating in the second monochromator is arranged such that it reverses the spectral dispersion of the first monochromator. This leads to a spectrally homogenized beam at the output port of the second monochromator and greatly reduced stray light, ideal for spectroradiometry, Raman or UV measurements of solar radiation.
    The arrangement of the 9072DS allows it to act either as a tunable bandpass filter or a tunable notch filter. Arranged as a tunable bandpass filter the bandpass of the device is determined by the width of an intermediate slit. When arranged as a tunable notch filter the width of the notch is determined by the physical width of an opaque notch placed at the intermediate slit position.
    The 9072DS can also be used to pass or filter out several selected wavelengths by using a custom intermediate multi-slit mask instead of a single width intermediate slit.

    One SS-80 slit is included, which can be attached to either the input or output port. A second slit can be added to the order if desired.
    The fixed intermediate slit or notch filter is not included in the 9072DS and can be selected from any of Sciencetech's SF-series of fixed slits and added to the order. A custom multi-slit mask can be added to the order upon request.
    Gratings and grating holders are not included. The 9072DS accommodates 30 × 30 mm gratings, with up to three gratings per turret. Two of each selected grating must be purchased to fill both monochromators. One grating holder is required for each grating.

    In the 9072DA, the inbound light is dispersed by the first grating then passed through a fixed intermediate slit where stray light is rejected and then spectrally dispersed again by the second grating.

    The double dispersion of the double additive monochromators results in a doubling of the dispersion of a single monochromator, leading to better optical resolution. The bandpass is half that of a single 9072 monochromator.

    A double subtractive monochromator operates to create a monochromatic light source by the 2nd monochromator cancelling the dispersion caused by the 1st monochromator. This allows a Double Subtractive system to operate as a tunable notch filter for Raman applications. The double additive is used for improved resolution.     The 9150 is Sciencetech's largest monochromator with a 1.5m focal length. Under optimum conditions with a 2400 l/mm grating it can achieve a resolution of 0.004 nm in single pass mode. 9150SD includes an optical module that allows the unit to be configured in a double pass mode as well, effectively doubling the focal length to 3m and achievable resolution to 0.002 nm. It utilizes large 102 x 102 mm gratings for high light throughput (f/12 aperture). The 9150SD accommodates one grating on a removable, kinematic mount that allows the user to manually swap one grating for another without losing alignment.
