Infrared (IR) light sources are specialized light sources producing IR outputs. A complete light source requires at least a lamp, lamp housing, and power supply.

All Sciencetech LH lamp housings feature a configurable and upgradeable housing capable of being operated in the vertical or horizontal position. Each housing comes with adjustable base plates for both configurations, allowing easy alignment of the lamp to the rest of the optical system.

Power and communication are supplied to the housing via a single cable connected to the touchscreen power supply, allowing users to easily and neatly set up the system. A safety interlock prevents power being supplied to the housing while the cover is open, protecting users from electric shock or unwanted light exposure.

This lamp housing design accommodates light sources from 30 to 300 W, with a range of options for light source, back reflector shape, and power supply options. Options with a spherical reflector (LH-S-options) require output optics to be used. See the SLCOL/IO product to select the compatible optics of your choice.

Each system includes the lamp housing, power supply, and lamp.

- Elliptical - for efficient focused light output, F/4.5.
- Extra-Fast Elliptical - for efficient focused light output, F/1.2.
- Parabolic - for efficient collimated light, has a toroidal intensity profile.

A wide variety of collimated or focused output optics is available for use with the LH-series, allowing a full range of sizes, materials, and coatings for optics to best suit the requirement. The Glow bar (Globar) is a typical infrared source for the THz researcher. The heating element itself is very low cost, allowing researchers to use them without worry about replacing expensive bulbs or components. The majority of the price for this unit consists of the water cooling (required for vacuum operation), large reflector to efficiently collect the radiation, and housing designed to withstand the high level of vacuum required for THz operation.
This model is specifically designed to mount to the optional External Input Port of the SPS300. If you wish to use a completed Globar unit for your own applications, please speak with a Technical Support specialist.
Please note that this device requires water cooling to operate under vacuum and includes all the lines, but not the water recirculator itself. If purchased as part of a complete SPS300 system, it is included.
