With the Sciencetech Solar LightLine you can direct the Class AAA solar light anywhere you want. Classic designs for solar simulators require you to bring your sample to the solar simulator. Now, you can bring the solar simulator to your sample! This makes the Sciencetech Solar LightLine series of fiberized solar simulators ideal for research that just can't accommodate traditional bulky solar simulators. The solar light can be easily integrated with a glove box without mounting the entire solar simulator in the glove box, saving space and adding flexibility. The standard 4-foot-long fiber makes the simulator ideal for doing spot checks of devices on manufacturing lines or in dedicated setups that can't accommodate a bulky solar simulator.

The Lightline includes space for fitting one internal accessory. Options are a motorized 6-position filter wheel with a variety of spectral or neutral density filters that can be supplied, or a manual or motorized attenuation system that provides continuous control over intensity at the target from 10-100%. Internal accessories must be selected at the time of order and cannot be added at a later time.

Every Lightline includes an internal two-position filter tray that accommodates Sciencetech FT style filters. One filter location is reserved for the selected air mass filter. Air mass filters must be selected in the order for spectral match classification.

Classification is performed to ASTM E927-19. Classification to IEC 60904-9 and JIS C 08912 standards can be performed on request. Please contact your Sciencetech Technical Representative for details.

This solar simulator is based on a Fresnel lens to collimate the light beam from the 1.6kW Xe ozone-free arc lamp source, resulting in highly collimated illumination of the target spot. The spectral distribution of the xenon light source, along with the use of specially calibrated air mass filters, closely simulates the sun’s true spectral distribution in various conditions on Earth.

Works best with 1 Sun AM1.5G filters (included). Other AM filters are available but they may change the target size achievable. Contact a Sciencetech technical sales representative for details.

Target: up to 20 cm (8") diameter (depends on required irradiance level)
Collimation: 0.7° half angle (70% of irradiance is within)
Non-uniformity: ±25% (not classified)
Lamp: 1600 W ozone-free Xe short arc
Lamp Housing: air cooled
Illumination Direction: horizontal*

The 9030DS consists of two 100 mm scanning monochromators placed in series in subtractive mode. Bandpass is determined by the width of an intermediate slit, but the 9030DS has a net output dispersion of zero because the monochromators are optically coupled so that the dispersion of the second grating cancels that of the first. This leads to homogenized wavelengths at the output port - there is no spectrum, only a single undispersed slit image - which allows the unit to act as a tunable bandpass or notch filter.

Stray light of all sorts is drastically reduced in a double monochromator, and in the 9030DS it is further minimized by the use of concave holographic gratings. It is ideal for applications where stray light is a problem - where there may be a strong scattered background, such as in spectroradiometry, Raman, or measurements of solar radiation.

The 9030DS can be used as a tunable notch filter to remove one particular wavelength while allowing all others over the bandpass to pass through, making it an ideal instrument to pre-filter out the strong laser excitation wavelength in a fluorescence or Raman system so that the weaker output signals can be observed.

The 9030DS is a fully integrated unit with the two diffraction gratings coupled mechanically for accurate positioning, adjusted manually using a thumb-wheel. It can be upgraded to be motorized and controlled by a computer with the 9030 Motorized Upgrade. Only one motor and drive unit is required for both monochromators, enabling control via Sciencetech Sci-Mono Active-X library or full featured Sci-Spec software.

The Model 9030DS can also be used to pass or filter out several selected wavelengths by using a custom intermediate multi-slit mask instead of a single width intermediate slit. Please contact a Sciencetech Applications Specialist for such custom wavelength filtering.

Mirror coatings have been chosen for this model to enhance performance in the UV-VIS region. There are 5 grating choices (sold separately) covering from UV to near-IR; choose a UV to VIS range to pair with the UV/VIS mirror coatings on this model. Two gratings are required.

Please add a minimum of three slits (for the input, output, and intermediate position) separately. Several removable fixed-width slit sizes are available to choose from ranging from 50 μm to 3 mm width. Please note that a 50μm slit may introduce some artifacts when used with the 9030 - this model is recommended to be used with slits of 100μm or larger for best performance in most applications. Additional removable slits and custom width slits can also be purchased.
Available slits include:
Model Slit Width
SF005 - 50 μm
SF010 - 100μm
SF025 - 250μm
SF050 - 500μm
SF100 - 1mm
SF200 - 2mm
SF300 - 3mm
